Nathan McSweeney has played three Test matches for Australia. Australia Test batter Nathan McSweeney has signed a new contract to play for Northamptonshire in the 2027 season.

The 27-year-old, who has played three Test matches for Australia, has scored three County Championship centuries in his first year with Northants and is the county's leading run-scorer this summer with 589 runs at an average of just under 50.

McSweeney, who will also captain Northamptonshire in this summer's One-Day Cup, has been an important part of their T20 Blast campaign, hitting an unbeaten 72 in Wednesday's eight-wicket win at Gloucestershire with the Steelbacks topping the Central & West Group.

"I'm grateful for the faith the club has shown in me and I'm looking forward to continuing to contribute both on and off the field," he told the club website.

"Hopefully there are plenty of successful moments ahead for Northamptonshire, and I'm excited to be a part of that journey."
